Tapestries, hanging carpets
The tradition of producing tapestries, tapestries or wall carpets goes back to the 16th century. Originally they beautified the interior, but they also partially protected against the cold and were quite widespread from the beginning. They featured various motifs with religious themes, ancient or secular scenes, or compositions of figures and nature.
Gobelins, understood as interior accessories, have never disappeared. It is precisely in our regions that we met them more rarely for several decades and that
for the reasons that they did not fit into the socialist housing architecture of the time. Since today people are no longer dependent on the uniformity of interior furnishings, we are increasingly seeing tapestries again in our modern interiors.
